We are proud to offer advanced diagnostic imaging with our human-grade, in-house helical CT scanner. This cutting-edge technology provides exceptionally detailed, three-dimensional images of your pet's anatomy, allowing our veterinary team to diagnose and evaluate a wide range of conditions with greater accuracy and confidence.

Helical CT imaging is especially valuable for assessing complex orthopedic injuries, neurologic disorders, nasal and sinus disease, thoracic conditions, abdominal abnormalities, and certain cancers. Because scans are performed on-site, we can obtain critical diagnostic information quickly, reducing wait times and enabling faster treatment decisions.

The best part? Radiant Veterinary can get your pet in same day, no referrals needed. Every image is sent out to a boarded teleradiologist to be read with STAT options available.

Helical CT

Helical vs. Axial

Advantages:

  • Faster scan times

  • Reduced anesthesia time for veterinary patients

  • More complete image data with fewer gaps between slices

  • High-quality 3D reconstructions

  • Better visualization of complex structures, such as the skull, spine, joints, chest, and abdomen

  • Reduced risk of motion artifacts because the scan is completed quicker

Helical (Spiral) CT

A helical CT scanner continuously rotates around the patient while the table moves smoothly through the scanner. This creates a spiral path of data acquisition, allowing the entire area of interest to be scanned in one continuous motion.

Conventional (Axial/Sequential) CT

In a conventional CT scanner, the table stops for each image slice while the scanner rotates and acquires the needed data. The table then moves to the next position before another image is taken.

Limitations:

  • Slower scan times

  • Longer anesthesia periods

  • Potential gaps between slices

  • Less efficient for creating detailed 3D images

  • More susceptible to motion artifacts if the patient moves
